The hall was built in 1923 and has had 2 extensions since then with a major refurbishment in 2000 as part of the Millenium Project/National Lottery. It stands at the edge of the village on a site of about 3/4 acre with grass on 3 sides and a tarmac parking area on the other. The hire gives use of the whole building plus the grassed area but care has to be exercised because 2 sides are unfenced to a road. In addition to a modern kitchen and toilets there is a Main Hall ( 12.5 m x 6.5 m) with a stage ( 4 m x 2.7 m) at one end and a Snooker Room ( 4.7 m x 6.5 m). This has a 3/4 size snooker table which is covered with boards when not in use and can be used as a large table for display or as a buffet table etc. When a game is being played there is not room for spectators. The hall is heated by night storage plus 6 infra red heaters. These are on a slot meter and when all are ON cost about £1 per hour. The maximum close-seating capacity is about 100. The maximum for sitting at tables is about 80. Folding tables are available, 16 seating 4 people and 10 seating 6/8. The parking area is not marked out but about 15 cars can be parked. On-road parking is not very practicable.

From the A 30, to the east of Exeter, take the exit marked "Exeter Airport" (B 3184). Go past the airport, over the A 30, and follow the signs for Aylesbeare. On entering the village the hall will be easily seen on the right. Coming from Exeter on the A 3052 (Exeter-Sidmouth road), go along that road until you see Oaklands Garage on your right. About 100m past the garage is a narrow lane (Harp Lane) on the left signed for Aylesbeare. Go along that lane to a crossroad and turn left into Village Way. Go down through the village, past the pub, and up the hill when the hall will be easily seen just past Scotchmead. Please note that all lanes to the village have narrow sections where passing can be diificult with a large vehicle.
