Built in 1874 as a Board School, it ceased being used as a school in 1972 after a larger Primary School was build on the Southern edge of the village. Devon County Council then permitted the building to be used as a Community Centre and, in 2011, the freehold of the building was obtained by a locally based trust. The Main Hall measures 15.5m x 6m. The Small Room is 8m x 5.5m.

Hall availability is always open to negotiation. Please do not assume this hall cannot be used on days where activities are indicated here. Community services available at this Hall:  

From Barnstaple: on A3124, turn left at Zuki's restaurant and keep straight on towards village centre. At the square turn right into Castle St. and the Community Centre is on left after 50metres. From Crediton: Go past the junction signed A3124 to N Tawton. Take the third turning on left signposted to Winkleigh and follow this road to the village square. Pass the Kings Arms and, at far end of the square turn left into Castle St. and the Community Centre is on left after 50metres. From N. Tawton: At the bottom of the hill approaching the village and just past the "Winkleigh" sign, turh left into a road signposted to Hatherleigh and Monkokehampton. Continue to the crossroads at the top of the hill and turn right into Exeter Road. Just opposite Bissetts Garage turn left into Castle St. The Community Centre is the next major building on the right.
